The Story Behind Heartloom

Renato, our founder, grew up far from his grandparents. When they passed, he was left with love, grief, and questions he never got to ask.

That absence stayed with him.

As his parents began to age, he felt the same ache returning—and chose to build something that could help preserve the stories that matter before they fade.

He partnered with Petra, our co-founder.

Her background in behavioral science and psychotherapy has been shaped by one deep belief: understanding someone’s story helps us understand their actions, their choices—and how to connect with them.

She believes storytelling brings empathy and self-compassion into the world. It softens our judgments, quiets our divisions, and helps us remember that we are all shaped by what we’ve lived through.

Together, they built Heartloom.
